Desk Sounds (experimental music)

I got my Cold Gold mics the other day. I put them to use on a dismantled school desk.

Retrospection (poem)

Reflections
Reflecting
A cough filled night

A rotting staircase
And a skin tone
So bright

In mirror shards
And ice cream bars
And lost lens caps

Search for
What's missing
Just maybe...perhaps

Getting Caught (poem)

You wept
With the marijuana in your lungs
In a car that we were no longer in
You couldn’t breathe as well as you did
Before we got into this
I felt your cheek
And I closed my eyes
And we hoped for a dream
In a nightmare disguise
And it was all so rampant
Inside your veins
But your lungs still strained
And, with eyes still closed
I whispered your name
With your heart exposed
And all of a sudden
Everything grew tiny
And you could breathe again

The Eternal Pedestrian (poem)

A silent, empty sunrise
Is beauty for us all
The gold inside of your eyes
Is making me seem small

You stole my rotting heart
With a photo and a word
Our dreams grew fast apart
And it all seemed so absurd

Now I'm killing you in spite
Of what you can't perceive
Will it be fight or flight?
Will you stay here or will you leave?

It's time to end this story now
Where all there is is woe
Your humble heart will not allow
Your thoughts, I'll never know

Observe (poem)

There's noise outside these glass windows
A creaking, silent, see-through sea
Behind blades of grass are bouncy balls
And the wind can shake once steady tree

Now cars and planes go zooming by
Not slowing down for yesterday
The conscience of them all can't hide
And, pretty soon, they'll be its prey

You're sitting there with empathy
They're tearing you apart
It's making me the worse for wear
And you don't even seem to care

Inferiority Complex (experimental music)

Chicago (photo album)

First Impressions (poem)

Two little birdies
Sitting in a tree
Wandering dreamscapes
Eternally

Hear them through concrete
I swear that I can
And that’s how our lovely
Enigma began

Your eyes met mine
The start of the end
When apathy met irony
And they became friend

And if darkness is simply
The absence of light
Then what am I
Without you tonight?

Chicago - In the Field

I was out field recording in Chicago yesterday when I came across some street performers. I filmed a part of their performance.

The Power Puff Girls

Taylor and I hung out for 12 hours straight yesterday. Here's that 12 hours, compressed into 5 minutes.

Generative Field Recording

I've been working on this Live set for a couple weeks now and I just recorded some sounds to load it with today: just a bunch of samples from a jungle gym. Anyways, I combined field recording and generative processes to create this sound. I really like it. It's a big step in my sound experiments.

These Clouds

I made a VideoSong tonight. It's called "These Clouds".

Here's a photo of the workspace I made this in.

I didn't want to sing, but there are lyrics.

Helped into rotting chair,
I don't think that I'll get back up this time.

Sit under darkened skies,
Your heart seems to be there and unlike mine.

But if you entered you'd swear it's there.
There's nothing else, oh, nothing else in me.

Don't drown in memories or thoughts,
Of what we all just might have been.

But a quick glance to the clouds ,
Will always show that, yes, there is a sky.
To get there is quite simple,
Cause all you have to do is pray and die.
I'm not transparent. I know I'm real.
And yet there's nothing left out there to see.

Without fulfillment, settle for dust.
You know there's not too much you want to be.

White Bear Avenue Sounds

Decided to do a little recording of a local intersection. Unfortunately, I lost the original audio file so all I have is this video.

Flag Pole

Just made my first song in Ableton with audio I recorded. It's just a 5 second sample of a tone I got out of a flag pole with a bunch of crazy processing. Check it out:

I think I need to get really long, unique samples so that it doesn't get so repetitive.

VidBlog 6

I shot a bunch of video last night while hanging out with some friends.
Here's the finished product.

Ableton Demo

I'm just learning Ableton. Here's a little demo track I made with 3 pretty basic midi clips.
I've fallen in love with real time manipulation, by the way  :)

The 6th Gate

The 6th Gate is a soundscape I made with recordings from the mall.
I used books, glass cases, gumball machines, staircases, the wishing well/water fountain, and the sounds of people in the food court.

There's no pictures because photography isn't aloud in the mall  :(

Recording in the Mall

I went to the Maplewood mall to record today. I got most of the sounds I wanted, but I was cut short. As I was recording a gumball machine, 5 cops came up to me and asked me what I was doing. As I was explaining to them, another 10 men walked around the corner. During the course of the next few minutes, people just kept pouring into the area and surrounding me. Finally, they told me I had to stop. I think they thought my H4n was a handgun or something. haha

Droiq

Droiq was made with sounds from my backyard.
